In the newest World Athletics men’s javelin throw rankings, Tokyo Olympics winner Neeraj Chopra rose to No. 1 for the first time in his career.
Indian javelin throw champion made history on Monday as World Athletics declared him no. 1. Neeraj Chopra has 1455 points followed by Anderson Peters with 1433.
Chopra finished first with 1455 points, 22 more than Grenada’s incumbent global champion Anderson Peters (1433). Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, finished third with 1416 points. Chopra, 25, rose to world No. 2 on August 30, last year, but has remained there since.

He won the season-opening Doha Diamond League earlier this month with a throw of 88.67 metres, boosting his ranking significantly. Chopra won the Diamond League finals in Zurich last September, becoming the first Indian to do so.
