Silana, Jhajjar, November 26, 2023
In a spirit of patriotic fervour, SJS GGSSS Silana Jhajjar commemorated Constitution Day 2023, also known as “Samvidhan Divas,” with a series of engaging activities and events. The day served as a platform for students to delve into the profound principles of the Indian Constitution and appreciate its significance in shaping the nation’s destiny.
The school’s Legal Literacy Cell organized a quiz competition to improve students’ understanding of the Indian Constitution, which was the highlight of the celebration. The Legal Literacy Cell Incharge, Meenakshi, PGT Economics, played a pivotal role in guiding and supporting the enthusiastic participants, ensuring an enriching experience for all.
The festivities commenced with a patriotic fervour as the National Anthem echoed through the school premises, setting the tone for the day’s events. Principal M.S. Yadav graced the occasion with a thought-provoking address, shedding light on the essence of the constitution and delivering an inspiring speech during the morning prayer.
The significance of Constitution Day, observed annually on November 26th, lies in commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. The Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950, marking the birth of the Republic of India. In recognition of this historic moment, the Government of India declared November 26th as Constitution Day in 2015, aiming to instill a sense of constitutional values among citizens.
Principal M.S. Yadav emphasised the inclusive and progressive nature of India’s Constitution, attributing its strength to the visionary leadership of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. As the key architect of the Constitution, Ambedkar’s ideals continue to inspire generations.
Highlighting the dual significance of the day, it was not only Constitution Day but also an acknowledgment of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s 131st birthday, celebrated as Ambedkar Jayanti. Dr. Ambedkar, India’s first law minister, played a pivotal role in the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly, crafting the world’s longest written constitution.
Previously observed as Law Day, the decision to celebrate Constitution Day on November 26th aims to underscore the paramount importance of the Constitution in shaping the nation’s destiny and promoting Ambedkar’s visionary ideals.
Principal M.S. Yadav concluded his address by encouraging all students to cherish and celebrate Indian Constitution Day with a deep love for their country. The day’s events served as a reminder of the values enshrined in the constitution and the role each citizen plays in upholding the democratic principles it represents.
The celebration at SJS GGSSS Silana Jhajjar encapsulated the spirit of unity, patriotism, and constitutional awareness, leaving an indelible mark on the minds of the students and fostering a sense of pride in being part of the world’s largest democracy.
