Bahadurgarh, Jagran Correspondent. Jhajjar’s daughter-in-law Asmita has become the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain peak, without oxygen. Asmita’s journey ended 100 meters before the summit of Mount Everest.
Just 100 meters away from the summit of Mount Everest, will achieve the target next time
Asmita completed the climb of 8848 meters high Mount Everest up to 8748.86 meters. But when the peak of Mount Everest remained 100 meters away, Asmita’s vision stopped and she had to return under compulsion. Asmita is the daughter-in-law of Jhajjar district. Asmita married Varun Sharma of Jhajjar in the year 2021. On reaching Bahadurgarh, Asmita was given a warm welcome at Dr. Sanjay Hospital. Mountaineer Asmita’s sister-in-law Dr. Taruna Sharma is also providing services of Gynecologist at Dr. Sanjay Hospital.

Asmita told that when the peak of Mount Everest remained 100 meters away, she could not see and had to return under compulsion. Another woman from Bengal was also climbing Mount Everest without oxygen but she too was left 500 meters away. And Asmita was at the forefront. Asmita said that next time she will return only after hoisting the country’s tricolor on the top of Mount Everest without oxygen.
Asmita, a mountaineer, is an instructor at Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, Jamshedpur. While working in TSAF, she fell in love with Varun Sharma of Jhajjar and both got married in the year 2021. Varun Sharma is the son of Dr. Kumud, who served in the Jhajjar Health Department, and his sister, Dr. Taruna Sharma, is a gynecologist at Sanjay Hospital in Bahadurgarh.
Mountaineer Asmita, who brought laurels to the country, was warmly welcomed at Dr. Sanjay Hospital. Hospital director Poonam Sanjay Singh welcomed Asmita by feeding her flowers and sweets. Everyone says Dr. Taruna and Dr. Poonam save daughter, educate daughter, but Sharma family has set an example of taking daughters-in-law forward.
Mountaineer Asmita’s father Sherpa Ang Dorji has been the Sherpa of Bachendripal, the first Indian woman mountaineer. Born with passion and passion for climbing mountains in her blood, Asmita’s first attempt to reach the summit of Mount Everest without an oxygen cylinder was 100 meters away. Remained but reaching 8748 meters without oxygen cylinder is also a record which no Indian woman has been able to do till date.
Asmita has so far successfully completed the climb of 7075 meters high Mount Satopanth, Mount Dharmasuda, Mount Gangotri, Mount Stop Kangri, Kangyangatse, Zojongo. To climb Mount Everest, Asmita used to cycle many kilometers every day and also used to climb with 20 kg weight. He also got a chance to go to Mount Everest in 2019 but could not go due to Corona. Asmita says that next year she will return only after hoisting the tricolor on the summit of Mount Everest without oxygen support.
